Three Bus Lines on Board for W2G Day!

Special thank you to Stock Transportation, Sharp Bus Lines and First Student Canada Bus Lines. All three have greatly donated their support by offering our students a great discount on transport for the day.
It is so great to get community support. Thank you!!!

Africa Trip HUGE Success
This past March Break, Stu and I took our yearly trip to Africa to check up on our projects and monitor the progress that has been made. It was a great trip/

We spent some time in Kenya where we had a chance to spend an afternoon with the community where we are building
our first school. The school is being built within an IDP community. This community is full of families that have been forced to relocate because of violence within their own community. At the present time, students are walking 5K to get to school.
Snow Valley Ski Resort Helps Sponsor W2G Day
With the annual Write to Give Day just around the corner. We have been looking for sponsors from the community to help with the cost of the event.
Snow Valley has helped out by offering their assistance in making T.Shirts for giveaway prizes for the students and volunteers that are helping that day. These will be plain t.shirts with the Write to Give Logo on the front.
Thank you Snow Valley for your support with the special day.
If you know of anyone or would like to help sponsor the event. Please go the ‘Sponsorship Link’ at the top of the page. There you will find some general information about the great benefits of being a Write to Give Day sponsor.
Illustrations Have Started!
This past week has been busy with not only book orders coming in, but students finishing up illustrations for books.
We have completed seven books this print session and seven in December. So that makes a total of 14! Double what we did last year.
The Write to Give Program is also beginning to take shape. Some guests for the event have been confirmed.
At the present time, we are still looking for sponsors who may be interested in sponsoring the event. If you know of anyone, please let me know and I can forward a sponsorship package.
Thank you
ISBN Number On New W2G Books

This coming print session (March and April) we will be printing our books through a new publisher.
We are very thankful for our old publisher (Reverb. Inc) who published 14 books for us. They were wonderful to work with and helped us get the program off the ground.
However, as the program continues to grow our team has been on the look out for other publishers that meet our needs. As a growing campaign, one of our big goals is to get these books on the shelves in stores throughout Canada.
As a result, we will be printing the next seen books through Amazon. The exciting thing about this is that the books will have an ISBN number!
We have received a draft copy of one of our old books and are extremely impressed. We look forward to seeing and completing the next seven books.
Hong Kong Students Write to Give
This is an exciting time for Write to Give. As the program continues to grow, it also reaches out on an international level. This year we have students from Hong Kong currently working with Ontario students to complete one of our books.
The children from Hong Kong attend Kingston International School.
This is what I would like to see more of - in the future for Write to Give. With the power of the internet, we could have one book written by four classes from four different countries!
Write to Give Helps Haiti
Thousands of children and adults have lost their lives from the earthquake that struck a week ago.
World Teacher Aid and the Write to Give Program has decided to join with others to help Haiti.
Two dollars from every book sold in the next printing session, from series two will be donated to help families in Haiti.
Please visit this site later this week for details on how the funds raised from the program will be used.
Busy Monday
This past week I was busy contacting several contacts in the Waterloo and Hamilton Boards.
My goal is to get 12 teachers from each area. So far we have had a few from each and I am excited to get more.
While I have had support from the boards sending information to teachers, I also decided on Monday to target five schools in the Waterloo area that have the highest enrollments. I made up a package for each school and also put some books in there as well for an example.
As my dad lives in Waterloo he came with me for the ride. He was a great help - while I have a GPS he insisted on using a map - and well I can’t complain, we didn’t get lost and I made it to all the schools.
My plan is to go to Hamilton next Monday to do the same thing - so hopefully I can recruit some more primary teachers
Thank You StocK Transportation
Today I had had the chance to contact Penny from Stock Transportation. She has confirmed that Stock Transportation will help out in busing again this year for students in the Norfolk and Haldimand Area on May 6th, 2009 for our Write to Give Day at the Sanderson Centre in Brantford.
Thank you Penny!
My next goal is to contact other carriers in the Brant area to see if they can offer the same support.
Keep your fingers crossed
For teachers and students in the Waterloo or Hamilton area, details are just being confirmed about a date and location for your Write to Give Celebration. Please stay tuned.
Monday News
December was a busy month for Write to Give. As a result of the growing support for the program, I decided to take a part time leave from my job. I will still continue to teach on a part time basis, but the other half of the time I will be dedicated to goring the campaign into other school boards within Ontario.
It was nice to have today to not only add blog updates, but also contact new teachers and Teacher Locals from other boards to help me spread the word!
So please continue to spread the word about the campaign. The 2009 was another great success, as a result of the sales we are able to fund two teachers salaries for almost a year as well as support a feeding program in Kenya!
Way to go kids!!
